Tip of the Day: Dynamic Disks and Windows PowerShell

Today’s Tip…

I see a number of interesting questions on the aliases that I’m subscribed to.  Some of them I will use to create a tip.  This is one of them.

Q:  How do I use Windows PowerShell to manage my dynamic disks.

A: You don’t.  The dynamic disks that have been part of Windows since Windows 2000 are being deprecated.  While still available in the product, Microsoft has provided no Windows PowerShell cmdlets to manage dynamic disks.

It’s interesting as the same thing happens in Server Manager which disappears the drive too.

Whilst dynamic disks are deprecated it’s still a worry when things disappear from a user interface rather than showing them as an “Unsupported Disk” for example.
