Tip of the Day: Server Manager Refresh

Today’s Tip…

If you spend much time in the new Server Manager in Windows Server 2012, you might notice that changes you make aren’t reflected right away in the interface.  A quick ‘refresh’ will update everything, but it does sometimes feel like something is wrong.

Quite the contrary….it is working the way it is supposed.  By default Server Manager updates about once every 10 minutes.  This can be adjusted if you go to the properties…

…and change the value.

However, you might want to consider not doing so.  Increasing the refresh on Server Manager can slow down your overall performance.  Unless you have a compelling reason to do so, you will be better off just leaving this setting at the default and refreshing manually when needed.
