Tip of the Day: Resizable RDP Connection Bar

Today’s Tip…

The RDP Connection Bar can now be Resized (especially useful when you have to move between Jump Servers to get your job done and merely moving the RDP Connection bar alone isn’t enough).

The RDP Connection Bar is now optimized for Win8 – tapping the Downward Facing arrow brings up this menu for common command. I find the Snap feature especially useful.

Nice tip, I never tried to resize, but I RDP in and RDP often as part of my job. Wondering what other little things I’m missing? Digging through your blogs now a bit.

Hi. Thanks for the tip. One thing I don’t seem to be able to figure out, is how to have RDP remember the position and sizing of the connection bar between sessions (either for each specific server, or just for all RDP sessions from my computer period).
Its a pain in the butt to have to resize and move the bar every single time I open an RDP connection (which is a lot!). Any ideas? Cheers!

I will second the request for how to save the size/position once set.

      1. I reached out to two different RDP SMEs to see what they thought.

They both confirmed that this is not currently possible because there is not a configuration setting for the connection bar in the RDP file.

Both recommended using the Feedback Hub app to provide feedback and to get the feedback voted up for a desired feature. Note that there isn’t any non-critical/security work being done on the old MSTSC client. One recommended checking out the Remote Desktop App to see if it has the ability. And if not, provide that feedback via Feedback Hub as well.
