Tip of the Day: Short file names

Today’s tip… The new volume wizard in Server Manager for Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 includes an option to enable short file name creation. While it is not recommended all the time, if you have an application that still requires short file names, it can be easily enabled when the volume is created.


Tip of the Day: Thin Provisioning Limitations

Today’s tip… The following limitations exist for Windows based Thin Provisioning: Windows Thin Provisioning will not function on dynamic disks. PartMgr/VolMgr will block dynamic partition creation using thin provisioning LUN. Windows thin provisioning feature will not support thin provisioning LUN as storage for paging file, hibernation file or crashdump file.

Today’s tip… Windows 8 and Server 2012 have the ability to mount ISO files without needing to install 3rd party software. Simply right click and MOUNT.
