Tip of the Day: SSP Supported Bus Types

Today’s tip…

 

Storage Spaces and Pools (SSP) are only supported on the following bus types:

  • SATA - Serial Advanced Technology Attachment
  • SCSI - Small Computer System Interface
  • SAS - Serial Attached SCSI
  • USB - Universal Serial Bus

If using FC or iSCSI SAN, you should use it to create fault tolerant sets (RAID x)…not Spaces.

 

The only bus type we support customers using with SSP in a clustered environment is SAS (Serial Attached SCSI).

 

NOTE:   Storage Spaces were introduced in Windows Server 2012/Windows 8 and will also be available in Windows Server 2012 R2/Windows 8.1.
