Brian currently works as a Senior Database Administrator at leading ecommerce cloud solutions provider, ChannelAdvisor, where he helps manage hundreds of SQL server instances processing hundreds of thousands of transactions per second.

Prior to being bitten by the SQL bug in 2010 and shifting focus to become a full-time DBA, Brian worked for four years in Windows and Linux systems administration.

In a previous life, Brian spent some time as an academic and holds a PhD in Computer Science. He lives with his wife and daughter in Raleigh, North Carolina, having moved there recently from Dublin, Ireland. His twitter handle is @briancarrig and if he can find a few spare moments after the birth of second child in the next few days, he fully intends to set up a blog.
