That’s a Wrap! TechEd North America 2013 Recap

TechEd North America 2013 took place last week in New Orleans, Louisiana.  There were many announcements, sessions and other activities taking place around this wonderful conference.  For those of you who visited New Orleans for the first time, we certainly hope you enjoyed the information, entertainment and local cuisine.

Having said all that, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that a vast portion of the conference is available on-demand so you can go back and watch the keynote and other important sessions.  Here are some important references as a starting point:

  • Day 1 Highlights - Big data. Cloud. Bring your own device. All of these converging technology trends demand a response from IT.  TechEd 2013 in New Orleans Louisiana is the place to be to learn about developing, deploying, securing, managing and updating cloud solutions for your business. Get more information from Microsoft Server and Tools president Satya Nadella and Microsoft Vice President Brad Anderson.  Windows Server 2012 R2, System Center 2012 R2, SQL Server 2014 and other product and service announcements were made.
  • Day 2 Highlights – Day 1 keynote featured several customers, including Aston Martin. The company is an example of the many enterprises that use the full range of Microsoft products and cloud platforms for IT success. One key challenge for its IT team was managing and securing global staffs’ laptops, mobile devicesand smart phones, as these employees rarely set foot into the offices. Get more information about Aston Martin and product announcements for Windows Intune and SQL Server 2014.
  • Day 3 highlights - The Windows Server team posted a blog post this morning about “Storage Transformation”.  Every good article should grab the reader right away, and they captured my imagination with a single statistic.  “90% of the world’s data has been created in the last two years” just boggles the mind.  Can you imagine the next two years?  How about twenty?  Be sure to read the blog post referenced above.  It is thought-provoking.
  • Day 4 Highlights – by Day 4 all of the big announcements had taken place but the training sessions, hand-on labs and Ask the Experts sessions were in high gear.  Be sure and check this post for links and information to Software-Define Networking (SDN) and quite a few picks we wanted to bring to your attentions.  Bonus points for those of you who know the MVPs in the foreground of the picture.
