It’s here! Microsoft Manual of Style now available

The 4th edition of the Microsoft Manual of Style that was announced last week is now available! Microsoft Press and O’Reilly have just released the first public update since the 3rd edition came out in 2004.

This Microsoft Press edition includes the new guidance on voice, web content, global content, NUI, and other guidelines for creating content in English.

  1. Leo says:

Does the 4th Edition include a revisions section? In other words, does it show what has changed since the 3rd Edition?

  2. Elizabeth says:

There have been so many updates and additions since the 3rd edition was published in 2004 that we decided not to try to list what has changed. Most changes are new content; some are deletions; and the third category would be revised guidance. A few notable revisions are dropping the hyphen in email and shifting from Web site to website.

  3. Adriana says:

Great, I think I'll wait for the Kindle Edition though.

  4. Sallie says:

Unfortunately, it does not include a CD like the 3rd edition. I know I can buy it, but I already paid for the hard copy.

    Nice piece of work.

There is a typo on page 35, I believe. It should say "of the translation" and not "if the translation"…
