Video: Translating Microsoft products into Māori

Check this new video from the Microsoft Local Language Program about translating products into Maori.

It has some great insights from students at a Maori language school in Hamilton, New Zealand, and from Te Taka Keegan, PhD, senior lecturer at University of Waikato. They explain why it makes a difference to localize Windows and Office and how it contributes to preserving the language:

“if we do not speak Maori our treasured language will be lost.”

Microsoft Windows Vista, XP and Office 2003 and 2007 are already translated into Maori. They can be downloaded for free from the Local Language Program site and can be installed on top of a US version of Windows or Office. Maori versions of Windows 7 and Office 2010 will release in the near future.
