Microsoft Translator adds collaborative translation feature

Today, at the MIX 2010 conference, the Microsoft Research team behind Microsoft Translator announced the “Collaborative Translations Framework”, bringing collaboration features to machine translation.

It allows webmasters that need to provide their content in multiple languages to get every page machine translated on-the-fly, and now also enables these webmasters to invite a user community to edit the machine translation. After the initial machine translation, the community perfects the output and the webmasters then pick the best translation for their content. The result is a localized web site in multiple languages that’s not only instantly available in multiple languages as MT, but can be finalized by an external user community or professional translators.

Microsoft Translator is currently available in 30 languages.
