Using Site Columns to Create Searchable Metadata in SharePoint Online

Dan Harrington is a member of the Search Engineers PFE team.  While assisting a colleague with a customer’s document security solution in an Office 365 migration, he tested a workaround using SharePoint’s Site Column mechanism.  This feature was then integrated into the search solution by using SharePoint Online’s predefined managed properties and the Refinement web part.  You can find the complete details at on his post here.
