I have a HS2300 embedded mobile broadband device in my HP laptop and it is not working with Windows 7.

or my device is listed as a yellow bang in the device manager.

The following workaround can be applied to unblock users with embedded HP modules:

  1. Download and install the legacy HP driver installer package https://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-65526-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=sg&product=3641274&os=2093&lang=en.
  2. The installation will fail to install the drivers but the drivers will be copied to C:\Program Files\HPQ\Shared\Sierra Wireless\Driver Installer\Drivers\WinVista\32bit. (or D:\Program Files\HPQ\Shared\Sierra Wireless\Driver Installer\Drivers\WinVista\64bit for 64-Bit).
  3. You would need to manually install the driver from Device Manager by pointing to the folder mentioned above. This means that you would have to go to the Device Manager, uninstall the old driver and then update to the new one by pointing to the folder location mentioned above.
  4. Right after that a bunch of new devices will jump out. Each one of them has to be again manually updated using the same location.
