Update for Surface Pro 3 (28 March 2017)

We’re happy to announce today that we’ve released an updated driver for Surface Pro 3 devices running Windows 10 Anniversary Update. This update includes a new driver for Realtek USB 3.0 Card Reader on Surface Pro 3. This update provides SD card slot compatibility for an upcoming OS release.

For Surface Pro 3, the updates are available in MSI and ZIP format from the Surface Pro 3 Drivers and Firmware Page in the Microsoft Download Center. Click Download to download the following files:

  • SurfacePro3_Win10_14393_1701602_3.msi
  • SurfacePro3_Win10_14393_1701602_1.zip

Note: The driver in this release is applicable only to Windows 10 Anniversary Update. As such, on the Download Page you will notice that there are two ZIP files and two MSI for Windows 10. Each of these files includes in the name a Windows 10 build number indicating the minimum supported build required to install the drivers and firmware contained within. For example, to install the drivers contained in SurfacePro3_Win10_14393_1701602_1.zip you must have Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Version 1607) or newer installed on your Surface Pro 3 device. You can find a list of the build numbers for each version of Windows 10 in Windows 10 release information. Files that do not contain a build number in their name are applicable to all versions of Windows 10.
