Coolest Journaling Feature you haven't heard about

Journaling in Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010 is a passion of mine. It's one of the more misunderstood aspects in Hub Transport. One of the limitations we have had in2007 and 2010 were that in a mixed mode (Exchange 2003 + 2007/2010) organization, if you did Envelope Journaling on 2003, you MUST set your journal mailbox target to a mailbox hosted by Exchange Server 2003. There are white papers that discuss the how's and why's of that but the short of it was that Exchange Server 2007 and 2010 don't understand how to create Envelope Journal Reports out of 2003 reports so everything has to go to 2003. I worked dilligently to get this feature built into Exchange Server 2007 and 2010 and I'm proud to say, a bit late, that Exchange Server 2007 SP3 and Exchange Server 2010 SP1 provide this feature.

There's a new property in town, called LegacyJournalingMigrationEnabled. It is FALSE by default, but if set to TRUE you can have Exchange Server 2003 Envelope Journaling sent to a mailbox hosted on Exchange Server 2007 or 2010. To get the full advantage of this you MUST install an Exchange Server 2003 hotfix discussed here. I hope you enjoy it, it's been a much needed feature.
