Larry Orecklin ("General Manager at Microsoft focussed on the System Center family of Management products and Virtualisation") has announced that System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) is due to be Release(d) To Manufacture (RTM) by the end of August. This is good news as SCVMM provides the means to dynamically manage the workloads on your virtual machines to maximise server utilization.

His post includes some interesting statistics including:

  • we now have over 840k downloads of Virtual Server
  • in the Application Virtualization space, we just passed 2M devices sold in just 2 quarters
  • we also passed 2.5 million downloads of Virtual PC 2007
