System Center Configuration Manager is now at Release Candidate 1(RC1) (not RTM as previously stated) - it's effectively SMS v4

Note: This post has been amended as I originally stated that SCCM was at RTM - apologies for the confusion

As Rob Marshall mentions, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) is now in the Release Candidate 1 (RC1) state - it's the replacement for Software Management System (SMS) v3.

The folks in marketing would probably shoot me for stating that SCCM is effectively SMS v4 as the product takes a much broader view of the environment.

Rob includes the following description on his post:

"With major investments in simplicity, configuration, deployment and security, Configuration Manager 2007 dramatically simplifies system deployment, task automation, compliance management, and policy based security management allowing for increased business agility."
