MSN ScreenSaver is cool as it can aggregate RSS

MSN Screensaver is now available for free by clicking here - the software is a beta version.

I like the screensaver as it includes an RSS aggregator that lists a summary of the latest posts (of blogs you've expressed an interest in). It also links into MSN Spaces - this is used as the source of the background images - very cool.

The screensaver also adds tabbed browsing, lists headlines from the MSN website (if you choose) and can display a local weather forcast for those who live in the USA. There's MSN Messenger integration too.

The new screensaver requires MSN Desktop search to be installed.

Below is a screenshot showing the configuration options.

A dilema, MSN toolbar is required.

What is meaning of having rss in screensaver when you cannot see it? Screensaver is ON when you are OFF from your pc. oh ya may be for colleagues.

Mihir> Good point. I find it useful when I’m on the telephone or working on another machine as I normally use two – a lab/test machine and a production one.

I’ve got it running on a PC in my kitchen. It’s a great way "browsing" information as you wander past throughout the day. I’ve discovered photos I’d forgotten about, seen news headlines I’m interested in and seen new family photos as they uploaded new pictures to their MSN Spaces sites. Pretty damn cool! BTW – the latest version doesn’t require the MSN Toolbar anymore. 🙂
