Evidence today of how effective the Chatham House Rule is

I enjoyed speaking on a panel today at the TIF conference. - full details of TIF can be found on their website. The audience comprised representatives from many high profile companies together with members of the press.

The entire conference took place according to the Chatham House Rule - this was a great aid to enabling all present to openly share information about our day to day security challenges. If you're interested to learn more about the Rule and it's origin then click here.

The following definition of the Chatham House Rule was taken from the afore mentioned site:

"When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed".

It's important to point out of course that the Rule is only as effective as the audience are honourable and of course that it doesn't provide an environment in which confidential information can be shared.

Thanks to everyone involved for making the conference such a good place to exchange best practise.
