  2. I think I remember reading that you recommend we install the 2016 CUs every month, (which was a change from 2013), but I can’t find it. Can you point me in the right direction?

      1. Hi Stefan,
Did I get this correctly: for SharePoint 2016, it is recommended to install latest Public Update (currently KB3213544 & KB3213543) ASAP? For SharePoint 2013, it is recommended to install only the latest security updates (currently KB3213559) ASAP, Cumulative Updates only when required?

        1. Hi Toni,
yes that is correct. Of course after validating each fix in a test environment to ensure that it does not have negative side effects on your specific environment and with your specific customizations.
          Cheers,
          Stefan

  3. If you install the security fixes to SP2010/PS2010, do you still need the Cumulative Update for July 2017 (ubersrvprj2010-kb3213629-fullfile-x64-glb.exe)? I tried installing the CU AFTER I installed the security fixes through Microsoft Updates. It told me that there weren’t any products on my server that were affected by the July 2017 CU.

    1. SP2010 is out of mainstream support since years. So the only fixes released for SP2010 are security fixes.
The uber is just a simpler way to install them (one package compared to n-packages each month).
      Cheers,
      Stefan

  4. Hi Stefan,
For KB 3203459 on the security guide page https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/security-guidance the product says “Microsoft Business Productivity Servers 2010 Service Pack 2” and not SharePoint server. So do we need to install this for SharePoint 2010 server? And if yes, why does the name says Microsoft Business Productivity Servers 2010 Service Pack 2 instead of SharePoint?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Microsoft Business Productivity Server is a sub component of SharePoint.
