Announcing availability of SharePoint Server 2016 IT Preview and cloud hybrid search

[via Bob Fox]

In April, we broadly announced our vision, strategy, timeline and investment in three major areas: familiar and intuitive user experiences, cloud-inspired infrastructure with hybrid at the core and robust security and compliance for SharePoint Server 2016.

Today we’re excited to announce availability of both SharePoint Server 2016 IT Preview and the new cloud hybrid search preview for SharePoint Server 2013 and 2016. As we continue to develop SharePoint Server 2016, we’re paying close attention to trends in content management, team collaboration, user experiences across devices, and how the cloud can be blended into existing on-premises scenarios in new and compelling ways. We’ve been working hard to get this out to you, and we know you’ve been waiting patiently since we announced that it was coming.

For more details, please read all the details in Bobs blog post.

  2. Thank you Stefan,

Any idea on when we will be able to get the download for the Project Server 2016 Preview?

kind of disappointing (no on-prem BI is the worst news)

    Hi Michéle

According to the Technet article (New and Improved features posted above here), Project Server Preview 2016 is included but they will be licensing it separately in future releases.

  5. Thank you Chad,

I read the installation docs for Project Server now and saw the following:
"Project Server 2016 Preview runs as a service application under SharePoint Server 2016 Preview."
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee662109(v=office.16).aspx

This means that it is not a separate download. If all else fails, read the manual I suppose.
