October 2013 CU for SharePoint 2013 has been released

The product group released the October 2013 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2013 product family.

Be aware that all Update for SharePoint 2013 require March 2013 PU for SharePoint 2013 to be installed first.

Please also have a look at the article that discusses how to properly patch a SharePoint 2013 farm which has Search enabled.

The KB articles for October CU will be available at the following locations in a couple of days:

  • KB 2825674 – SharePoint Foundation 2013 October 2013 CU
  • KB 2825647 – SharePoint Server 2013 October 2013 CU
  • KB 2825650 – SharePoint Server 2013 with Project Server October 2013 CU
  • KB 2825686 – Office Web Apps Server 2013 October 2013 CU

The Full Server Packages for October 2013 CU are available through the following links:

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2013 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.

Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2013 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU. And the SharePoint Server 2013 with Project Server CU contains Project Server CU, SharePoint Server CU and SharePoint Foundation CU.
That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2013 product family.

  1. I wonder about this "KB 2825674 – SharePoint Foundation 2013 October 2013 CU" because I already added this same link (and same title) to my site on the 9th of October.

So not only is it already out and not in a few days, but it's been out for a few weeks.

  2. Ignore me. I thought I was adding the link you used but clearly I wasn't as now I am getting a Hot Fix page which is different.

    Sorry.

  3. (Going Mad) In fact I do for the SPF 2013 link still get the October 8th link. It's the SPS 2013 that's giving me a 25th October update.

  4. Hi Mike,

that is correct. The SharePoint 2013 Server packages were delayed. The Foundation packages were released earlier. I usually post only when all packages are available.

  5. Thanks !

and that ("The SharePoint 2013 Server packages were delayed.") – after all my running around – has solved that "problem".

I really must stop drinking so much coffee. (Blame it on the new coffee machine).

Thanks again Stefan for providing these links so consistently.

  8. Hi Stephan !

Do I have to deploy the October PU (KB 2892139) before the October CU (KB 2887714) on my Platform ?

As we use also an OWA 2013 server with this Platform, is it required to update it also ?

And if yes, October PU + CU ?

Thanks a LOT in advance !

Best regards, have a nice day !

  10. Hi,I have downloaded an installed (success !) the October CU on a SP 2013 Foundation German. After the installation and upgrading tasks I am realize that the Searchfield WebPart in my Search Page fired a error ("Die common language runtime hat ein ungültiges programm gefunden") — sorry for the German text ! I guess it is something like: The common language runtime found an invalid program.

Does anyone else found this issue ?

    Regards

    Martin

  12. I have exactly that same problem in SharePoint Foundation 2013 as Raffaele above, no search box and cannot add search webpart.

What's more, under Manage Patch Status, it says that version 15.0.4481.1005 for Sharepoint Enterprise 2013 has been installed.

I double checked and it seems no customer reported this since today in a service request. In order to investigate this issue please open a support case for this issue.
