June 2013 CU for SharePoint 2013 has been released

The product group released the June 2013 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2013 product family.

Be aware that all Update for SharePoint 2013 require March 2013 PU for SharePoint 2013 to be installed first.

Please also have a look at the article that discusses how to properly patch a SharePoint 2013 farm which has Search enabled.

The KB articles for June CU will be availabe at the following locations in a couple of days:

  • KB 2817346 - SharePoint Foundation 2013 June 2013 CU
  • KB 2817414 - SharePoint Server 2013 June 2013 CU
  • KB 2817415 - SharePoint Server 2013 with Project Server June 2013 CU
  • KB 2817350 - Office Web Apps Server 2013 June 2013 CU

The Full Server Packages for June 2013 CU are available through the following links:

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2013 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.

Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2013 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU. And the SharePoint Server 2013 with Project Server CU contains Project Server CU, SharePoint Server CU and SharePoint Foundation CU.
That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2013 product family.

Didn't you already post this on the 14th of June 2013 ?

  2. Hi Mike,

no I did not. Please compare the two articles.

I posted that it is delayed and but that SPF and WAC fixes are avail. Now the Server fixes are also avail.

    Hi Stefan,

extracting 465209_intl_x64_zip (the Project Server 2013 June 2013 CU) will get you two files:

    ubersrvprj2013-kb2817415-fullfile-x64-glb.exe and

I remember this being exactly the same in revision 1 of the last CU where we were not able to install it. Can you confirm this?

  4. Hi Dirk,

the fix consists of both files. Both have to be in the same folder when installing.

  5. Stefan, can you advise if these CUs fix the problem mentioned in the thread below regarding the Office 2013 / SharePoint 2010 compatibility issue, specifically the Registry locales?

    The TechNet thread is social.technet.microsoft.com/…/sharepoint-2010-and-office-2013-cant-edit-documents

  6. Hi Steven,

I haven't heard about this issue. Did you open a support case for this?

Did you or someone else report it to Microsoft to request a fix?

    Hi Stefan,

Tried to setup the June 2013 update on my SP2013 and got a weird message "The expected version of the product was not found on the system". Get-SPFarm | select BuildVersion tells me "15.0.4420.1017"

    What I'm doing wrong?

  8. Did you install March PU before?

    As discussed that is required.

  9. Eric says:

Can I install March PU, then June CU, then run configuration wizard one time?

There are some blogs saying it will take 5+ hrs for just one update and you need to stop some service to make it install faster. Do you have ideas about that

  10. Hi Eric,

yes its fine to run it only one time.

Regarding the installation time: it can take a couple of hours. One factor that increases the installation time is the number of language packs installed.

    Hi Stefan,

Do you know if the June 2013 CU for SP 2013 has a fix for the issue mentioned in the blog below:

  12. Hi Michael,

has this issue been reported to Microsoft?

  13. Matt says:

Can the March and June CU be added to the update folder for a new install?

  14. Hi Matt,

there is no March CU (cumulative update). In March we released a PU (public update). See here for the differences:

Unfortunately March PU cannot be slipstreamed.

  15. Danie Claassen says:

It is correct that you just need to install the latest CU correct….

So if i want to get to August 2013 CU i just install SP2013 + March 2013 PU + August 2013 CU?

    And not June 2013 CU?
