MCMS 2002 Service Pack 2 is now ready for download!

The message was that MCMS 2002 SP2 will be available “short after the release of VS.NET 2005”. And the product team really managed to release SP2 today. Be aware that SP2 can only be installed after installing SP1a. So if your system is currently on SP1 you first have to install SP1a and then SP2 afterwards.

Download it from here: Content Management Server 2002 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

New major features coming with SP2:

  • VS.NET 2005 support
  • SQL Server 2005 support
  • ASP.NET 2.0 runtime support

  5. Nice!

I was beginning to worry that the mcms projects I’m starting was going to be on framework v1.1 even though v2.0 just have been released.

  6. Are there changes to the database?

Can a workstation (mine 😉 ) with SP2 share a database with ones that are running SP1a?

  7. Hi Andrew,

we got the information that webfarm scenarios are not supported with mix setups.

But this might affect only load balancing.

From what I have seen in my tests the database schema is not changed with this service pack so it should work. But I’m not sure if this is an officially supported scenario.

I would suggest to upgrade all environments.

    Cheers,

    Stefan

  8. Hi!

Nice that the SP2 finally is released 😉

After installing CMS sp2 and opening a cms web project in visual studio 2005 i get the error Package Load Failure. The dll that fails to load is the Microsoft.ContentManagement.DeveloperTools.VisualStudio.dll.

Anyone know a solution for this?

  10. I have heard rumours that SP2 does cause a few problems and therefore a number of post SP2 hotfixes available before sp2a is released. Is there any truth in these rumours?
