Microsoft Announces the General Availability of Windows Azure HDInsight

This week, Microsoft is attending the Strata + Hadoop World Conference, where the company will discuss its big data strategy and approach as well as its work with the Hadoop community and Hortonworks to accelerate the adoption of Hadoop in the enterprise.

News Highlights

  • Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows Azure HDInsight, its cloud-based distribution of Hadoop. Windows Azure HDInsight combines the best of Hadoop technology and flexibility of cloud deployment with the security and manageability required to accelerate the adoption of Hadoop in the enterprise. Customers can begin using HDInsight now.
  • Tomorrow, at 9:35 AM ET, Microsoft CVP Quentin Clark will deliver a keynote to further discuss Microsoft’s vision to democratize big data by providing easy to use tools and a unified data platform. There will be a live stream available at the O’Reilly Strata + Hadoop World website.
