Windows Azure Helps Bring Customer Back Online Amid Crisis
When disaster struck the picturesque nation of Costa Rica in the form of a 7.6 magnitude earthquake in September 2012, the population was in shock and the nation’s infrastructure was damaged. The website of Teletica, one of the nation’s largest and most prominent communications companies, was quickly overwhelmed by user traffic as people in the country and around the world logged on to obtain and share information following the devastation.
At a loss as to how to proceed, Teletica’s IT staff called Microsoft. Within 45 minutes, they were able to utilize Windows Azure to get the website back up and running. Windows Azure’s interoperability enabled Teletica to develop and launch an open source mapping application that allowed users to post pictures and videos showing the conditions around the country in the wake of the disaster.

All ASP.NET Web Developers Can Benefit from the Latest ASP.NET Update
This week Microsoft announced the release of ASP.NET and Web Tools 2012.2, a tooling refresh of Visual Studio 2012 that extends the existing ASP.NET runtime with new features, while not breaking existing applications. Web developers can use the new ASP.NET templates and features to help them create rich, compelling web applications. The update does not make any changes to the existing ASP.NET runtime, making it fully compatible with existing projects and development environments. Whether web developers use Web Forms, MVC, Web API, or any other ASP.NET technology, the update has something new and valuable for them.
