Essar Group Unleashes Power of the Cloud with Windows Azure
In an effort to offer its customers Web-based applications with high performance and scalability while maintaining low infrastructure and management costs, multinational conglomerate Essar Group has announced it has selected Windows Azure to deliver some of its applications. The move will result in a reduced level of needed IT maintenance and predicted cost savings of nearly 65 percent.
Microsoft Announces FreeBSD Support on Windows Server Hyper-V
Tomorrow at the BSDCan 2012 conference Microsoft and partners NetApp and Citrix will announce support of FreeBSD on Windows Server Hyper-V, extending our commitment to supporting multiple platforms with Microsoft virtualization and private cloud solutions.
As more organizations are using virtualization to manage mission-critical workloads, they are taking advantage of the cost-saving benefits of server consolidation and building a foundation for private, public and hybrid cloud computing. FreeBSD support on Windows Server Hyper-V is one example of how Microsoft helps customers adopt virtualization and progress towards cloud computing.

Microsoft Private Cloud Economics
Today Edwin Yuen, Director of Windows Server and Management Strategy, posted a blog on “The facts about the value of a Microsoft private cloud.” Since the release of a Private Cloud Economics Whitepaper and an associated Tool which enables customers to run customized analysis of their own environments, there have been some questions from customers on a few of the assumptions and calculations in both. In his post Edwin addresses those questions and explains how Microsoft delivers the best economics, allowing customers to realize the cloud computing benefits of scale with unlimited virtualization and lower costs – consistently and predictably over time.
