Satya Nadella, President of Microsoft STB, at GigaOm Structure

Today at 11:10AM PDT, Satya Nadella, president of Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business (STB), will participate in an onstage fireside chat moderated by Eric Savitz, San Francisco bureau chief of Forbes, at the GigaOm Structure event.  Satya was recently appointed president in February after almost five years as president of R&D of Microsoft’s Online Services Division.  Today marks his first public speaking appearance where he will discuss cloud adoption trends and Microsoft’s go-forward commercial cloud vision.

In addition, Microsoft announced today a change in the pricing structure for the Windows Azure platform – beginning July 1, 2011, all inbound data transfers for both peak and off-peak times will be free. This change will provide significant cost saving for customers whose cloud applications experience substantial inbound traffic and for customers interested in migrating large quantities of data to the cloud. You can find out more information about today’s announcement on the Windows Azure blog.
