Microsoft Management Summit 2010 Kicks Off Today

The Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) 2010 kicked off today in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This year, the conference will focus on Manage the Future: Desktop to Cloud.

Bob Muglia, President of the Microsoft Server and Tools Business, delivered the opening keynote and discussed the transition that is occurring in datacenters as the focus moves from servers to services, from manually operated to fully automated, all with a choice of models - traditional datacenter, virtualized, private and public clouds.

As part of the keynote, Bob also made some product announcements for cloud and datacenter management capabilities, including Virtual Machine Manager V-next, and Operations Manager V-next, which are both slated to become available in 2011.

In addition to updates to Configuration Manager, we'll also unveil the RTM version of Data Protection Manager 2010, Service Manager, and the new Compliance Pack for Service Manager, all designed to enable you to manage your complete IT environment in a more cost effective way and enable new business or operational models.
