Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2 RC released

Microsoft today announced the release of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2 RC to MSDN and TechNet subscribers, SP2 provides integrated fixes into a single service pack.

SP2 RC is an update to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 that, along with improvements delivered to users via Windows Update and via our hardware and software partners, addresses key feedback from our customers.

  • o Service packs are part of the traditional software lifecycle – they’re something we create for Microsoft products as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.
  • o We expect Windows Vista SP2 will retain compatibility with applications that run on Windows Vista and Windows Vista SP1 and are written using public APIs. Our advice is for customers to continue their plans for adopting Windows Vista SP1, and roll SP2 into your deployment image when it becomes available.

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2 RC is available for MSDN and TechNet subscribers today via the TechNet and MSDN download sites. Next week, Microsoft will make SP2 RC available to the broad public via TechNet. You can read more about SP2 on the Windows Server team blog and the Windows team blog.
