An Addition to the SQL Server Team

David DeWitt, one of the top minds in the database systems industry, has joined Microsoft as a Technical Fellow on the SQL Server team. Microsoft recently asked DeWitt to create a new development lab in Madison, Wisconsin that will be named for Jim Gray, the Microsoft computer scientist who was lost at sea in a 2007 boating accident. The new center will conduct both product development and longer-term, exploratory technology development in the field of databases, working closely with the Computer Sciences Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
