Benchmark testing confirms the scalability, performance, and value of the Microsoft Application Platform for CSC’s POINT IN

CSC’s POINT IN policy administration system is widely known in the insurance industry as the leading end-to-end property and casualty (P&C) administration application suite. It has the largest active customer community in North America, with more than 100 carriers using the system to process and support virtually all lines of business. POINT IN is one of the few end-to-end P&C administration systems that can run on multiple platforms, including the Microsoft Application Platform.

As part of its commitment to quality, CSC joined with Microsoft to test the scalability and performance of the Java version of POINT IN on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.  The test results demonstrated that SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise easily provided the throughput and scalability to handle the needs of CSC customers at an attractive price per transaction. Generating the traffic simulated in the tests requires between 400 and 500 very active concurrent POINT IN users, which represents a large POINT IN customer. Even this significant load averaged only 35% CPU utilization and 8 GB of RAM on relatively small hardware hosting SQL Server.
