Desire2Learn: Virtual High School Global Consortium implemented the Desire2Learn Learning Management System running on the Microsoft platform

Availability, performance, and scalability are critical for providers of online education. Virtual High School Global Consortium (VHS)—a successful nonprofit provider with 770 member schools and more than 200 online courses—implemented the Desire2Learn learning management system, which runs on the Microsoft platform. Since implementation, the solution has shown that it can easily handle VHS’s growing workload. Approximately 5,200 concurrent users connected during peak periods in 2010 with excellent performance and uptime; this number is expected to jump to 6,000 during the fall of 2011.
