Siemens’ PLM: Thomas Instrument runs on SQL Server

Thomas Instrument provides engineering, manufacturing, repair, and overhaul services to the United States Department of Defense (DoD). The company is used by the DoD to produce and/or support orphan parts, components, and systems. Orphans are items that are no longer produced and/or supported by the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The company implemented SQL-Server based Solid Edge Insight in 2009.

At the time they hoped it would supported the vast majority of their requirements at a very low cost of ownership. According to Dwayne Anders, Thomas Instrument’s IT Manager,  this is proven to be accurate. Dwayne also mentioned their current environment is light years ahead of where they were before and extremely happy with the current capabilities.
