Audit and Control Management Server 2013 - "Unable to determine database file storage path" error

 

While running the Microsoft Audit and Control Management (ACM) Server 2013 Configuration Utility, you may receive the following error when trying to create a new ACM database:

 

 

 

Unable to determine database file storage path.

 

The error can happen if the account running the configuration utility does not have enough permission in SQL Server. To fix the error, give the account the “sysadmin” server role on the database instance.

The account used to install ACM requires "sysadmin" permission to the database server where the ACM database will be created and hosted. This is documented in the article "Planning ACM and Discovery and Risk Assessment Accounts" at the following location:
