Two new posters for SharePoint 2016 and Skype for Business architectural models

With the new versions of Microsoft Office server products, content publishers here at Microsoft have been working hard to show their key configurations and scenarios in a visual way. Here are two results:

  • Microsoft Skype for Business Architectural Models poster

These new posters are in tabloid format, also known as 11 x 17, for easy printing. You can choose between a PDF version, a Visio version, or viewing them online on docs.com.

This new poster shows the following configurations for SharePoint 2016:

  • SharePoint Online, which is SharePoint services bundled with Office 365.
  • SharePoint hybrid, which is a combination of SharePoint Online and SharePoint on-premises.
  • SharePoint in Azure infrastructure services, which the deployment of a SharePoint farm as Azure virtual machines. This is recommended for disaster recovery and dev/test farms.
  • SharePoint on-premises, in which you plan, deploy, maintain, and customize your SharePoint farm in a datacenter that you maintain.

For each configuration, the poster describes what the configuration is best for, licensing requirements, and architecture tasks.

Microsoft Skype for Business Architectural Models poster

This new poster shows the following configurations for Skype for Business:

  • Skype for Business Online, which is Skype for Business services bundled with Office 365.
  • Skype for Business on-premises, in which you plan, deploy, maintain, and customize your Skype for Business servers in a datacenter that you maintain.
  • Skype for Business hybrid, which is a combination of Skype for Business Online and Skype for Business installed on-premises.
  • Cloud PBX, which enables call control and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) capabilities in the Office 365 cloud.
  • Integration of Skype for Business with Exchange and SharePoint.

For each configuration, the poster describes what the configuration is best for, licensing requirements, and architecture and IT pro tasks.
