Closing the loop II: Improved Microsoft Cloud Networking poster is based on the January 2016 CAAB webinar

Hey CAAB,

I wanted to let you know that we just published an updated and improved version of the Microsoft Cloud Networking for Enterprise Architects poster, which contains a completely reworked Designing for Azure IaaS section (page 5 [Azure IaaS] of the Visio file, pages 5-9 of the PDF).

In the original version, the Designing for Azure IaaS section was a set of blocks for the step-by-step design process and then a series of sections with figures explaining the technical features and design choices for an optimal Azure virtual network.

In the new version, this section is:

  • A set of blocks for an improved step-by-step design process.

  • A series of sections consisting of the design steps with the relevant figures illustrating the technical features and design choices.

This rather simple reorganization is a vast improvement. Instead of separating the design steps from the technical information needed to make the appropriate design decision, they are now blended together and much more relevant.

Although it seems obvious now (with hindsight, I no longer need my glasses), this breakthrough was the result of presenting this information at the January 2016 CAAB webinar. As a former instructor and courseware designer, this experience proves that you really don't understand something until you try to teach it to someone else.

Thanks to the CAAB for being that initial sounding board. Your participation has a direct effect on the quality of documentation that we publish.
