Event Overview

In past presentations, we have concentrated on the deployment of Fabrikam and Contoso solutions. Now the time has come to implement a management strategy for their new environments. They need to be able to back up and restore services as quickly as possible, and to manage and update not only the virtual servers, but also guest images. In this session, we look at how both companies implemented Microsoft System Center to achieve this goal. We cover Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager for backup and restore, and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and Virtual Machine Manager for management and performance tuning.

Presenter: Edwin Yuen, Product Manager, Microsoft Corporation

Edwin Yuen is the technical product manager in the Windows Enterprise Management division for System Center Virtual Machine Manager. Edwin came to Microsoft with the July 2006 acquisition of Softricity. Prior to joining Microsoft, Edwin was one of the Services Engagement Managers of Softricity for six years, leading most of the initial Softricity implementations. Edwin has 13 years of technical consulting experience in both the commercial and federal space, and holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
