Small companies have three key reasons to adopt Office 365 and begin immediately reaping the benefits, with the low upfront cost providing a particularly strong attraction.
That is the opinion of Paul Mah, SMB technology expert for Small Business Computing and IT Business Edge, who said the ability to sign up for a “predictable” monthly fee is a reason why many firms with tight reins on their spending are attracted to Office 365.
“Small businesses can sign up for a plan – that meets their exact requirements – for a predictable monthly fee. Compare that to setting aside funds to purchase new hardware servers,” he explained.
Another key attraction is that SMEs can install the desktop apps on up to five PCs per user, which makes it ideal for those that embrace BYOD, as employees can install the office productivity suite on more than one laptop, enhancing productivity.
Furthermore, the Microsoft-hosted Exchange Online presents a more appealing cost-of-ownership proposition than an on-site Exchange deployment, according to Mr Mah.
“Exchange Online also includes spam and malware protection, which costs extra if you buy an on-premises solution,” he added, noting that that upfront and hidden costs alike can be avoided by adopting Office 365.
