Creating system restore points can spare you the frustration of having to repeat work should your computer crash or lose power.
It’s happened to most of us – you’re working on an important piece of work on the computer and suddenly the power cuts out.
All that time spent slaving away could have been wasted – but you won’t know until the PC reboots and you can get back into the file.
Sure enough, when you do, everything has disappeared off the system and you’re back to square one.
But it needn’t be this way. The system Restore function exists to recover important documents, settings, and preferences on your computer.
If the unthinkable does happen, and you suffer a badly-timed outage – or a download goes wrong – it should be possible to limit the damage.
Where regular restore points are created, your computer will be returned to the state it was in before crashing or losing power.
This means there will be no need to repeat work you’ve already done, which is a major boost from a productivity perspective – and also good for your sanity.
Users should also periodically back up all computer files to safeguard against loss, meaning they will available to access from another machine.
In the event your computer breaks, is stolen or lost, key data will be available to access online in the cloud. This is all part and parcel of good PC housekeeping.
