Calling all budding movie makers!

Windows 7 is proudly sponsoring the 54th British Film Institute (BFI) London Film Festival, 13-28 October, and is working with the BFI as part of an ongoing commitment to supporting British creativity.

To celebrate, Windows 7 is inviting you to create your own 7-second movie inspired by your favourite film or genre. The winning movie will be shown at the Windows 7 Gala Premiere of British movie The First Grader, at this year's BFI London Film Festival, on 26 October.

Windows Live Movie Maker is all you need – part of Windows Live Essentials, it’s free and you can download it here: https://windowslive.com/Desktop/MovieMaker

Then if you’d like a few pointers on how to make and edit your 7-second movies, take a look at our how-to videos, which you’ll find on the UK Video Showcase site. Browse through the Windows 7 Movie Maker videos and you’ll find several worth watching, including the one below, which is a basic ‘how-to’.

Others include: Inspired by ghosts, marshmallows and New York City and Inspired by cowboys, campfires and cold winters. (Ed’s note: don’t ask – just watch them!)

So whether you want practice in making promo videos for your website, need school project ideas for media students, or just like playing around with cool, free technology – why not have a go?
