The new Microsoft 365 admin center available today

We're pleased to announce that the new Microsoft 365 admin center will become the default experience for all Microsoft 365 and Office 365 admins.  Each month, more than 2.7 million admins use the admin center to empower their users to be productive, collaborate, and stay secure. At Ignite last September, we previewed a new admin experience that offers new levels of efficiency and insight, customizable for the unique needs of each role, team, and organization. Since then, we have honed the admin center with helpful feedback from our admin community. Admin.microsoft.com is every admin's common entry point for managing applications, services, data, devices, and users across Microsoft 365. The admin center is highly customizable, so you have quick access to the data and tasks you use the most, with the ability to dive deep in specialist workspaces. Common but high-value tasks like user and device management have been simplified and centralized in the admin center to make you more efficient so that you can focus your time on strategic initiatives.

Announcing the updated Exchange Deployment Assistant site

We're announcing a new site for the Exchange Deployment Assistant! Like the rest of the Exchange documentation, the Deployment Assistant has lived on TechNet since it was created. With the move towards the docs.microsoft.com platform, we needed to make a similar migration for the Deployment Assistant. With the move to the new site, we've updated the Deployment Assistant to focus solely on on-premises deployments. For online and hybrid scenarios, we've had two different resources offering the same guidance: the EDA, and the Office 365 mail migration advisors. Rather than having the same guidance in two different places, we're standardizing on the Office 365 mail migration wizards for online and hybrid deployments. For those of you who are in the middle of an on-premises deployment or migration to Office 365, the existing Deployment Assistant will remain available until the end of April 2019. After that, and for everyone who's looking to start a new deployment or migration, please start using the new Deployment Assistant.

Investigating TLS usage for SMTP in Exchange Online

Microsoft is committed to enforcing the best security for our services. As a result, TLS1.0, TLS1.1, and 3DES were deprecated in the Office 365 service. While 3DES is currently in the process of being disabled, there is no date set for disabling TLS1.0 and TLS1.1. That said, we are working towards disabling these TLS versions for Exchange Online endpoints. Should TLS1.0 be compromised, we will have to act quickly to disable it in our service to protect our customers. In the case of SSL3.0, we disabled it in the service just over a month after the compromise was disclosed. Therefore, we urge you to be proactive by verifying TLS1.2 support for all of your email clients and servers as soon as possible. To help you identify if your organization is contributing to those numbers, we have developed several reports for Exchange Online. You can use these reports to help determine which clients and servers are still using TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 to connect to the various email protocol endpoints in Exchange Online. These reports can be found in the Security and Compliance Center under the Mail Flow Dashboard.

Azure AD Naming Policy for Office 365 Groups is now generally available!

We're excited to share the news from our Office team that the ability to enforce a Naming Policy for Office 365 Groups, powered by Azure AD, is now generally available! Groups provides admins a tool to manage users and policies at scale. The Naming Policy feature enables admins to define prefix or suffix conventions that can be automatically appended to group names and/or create a list of words that are blocked from use in group names. Note, the feature requires Azure AD Premium 1 licenses for the group creator, the group members, and the Naming Policy admin. To get started, check out our documentation on how to configure and manage these Naming Policies.
