You've invested in Microsoft Teams, how do you use it to deliver superpowers to your people? (pt. 2)

It's hard to miss the momentum around Microsoft Teams. While we are incredibly proud of our success, we also recognize that Microsoft Teams is an entirely new way of working for many organizations. Many customers ask us - prior to rolling out Teams for their people - for the "secret sauce" to driving natural & organic adoption, quickly. The truth is, in the words of one of our partners, the formula is pretty simple. To get people to adopt and love Teams, you just need to give them a reason. And that's what this series is all about. Sharing real examples of how organizations are using Microsoft Teams to deliver their people a truly modern workplace that unleashes their true potential.

Now is the time to make the shift to Microsoft 365

As we shared on January 14, 2019, the end of support for Windows 7 is less than a year away. Many of you are well on your journey to migrate to Window 10 and Office 365, as they provide the most productive, secure, and cost-effective experience for users and IT departments. More than half of commercial devices are on Windows 10, which shows great momentum. Security remains our biggest priority, and Windows 10 provides the most secure experience. For those of you who aren't able to migrate all of your apps and devices to Windows 10 by the January 14, 2020, end of support date and need additional time to make the transition, we've got you covered with new options: (1) as we announced in September 2018, we will provide Extended Security Updates for Windows 7, (2) Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop (coming soon) will provide a Windows 7 device with free Extended Security Updates through January 2023, giving you more options to support legacy apps as you transition to Windows 10, and (3) as a final resource those of you with legacy Windows 7 devices, Extended Security Updates will be available for purchase starting April 1, 2019. They will be sold on a per-device basis for eligible customers and the price will increase each year. In addition, Office 365 ProPlus will be supported on devices with active Windows 7 Extended Security Updates through January 2023. This means that customers who purchase the Windows 7 Extended Security Updates will be able to continue to run Office 365 ProPlus.

Watch content offline using Stream mobile apps

Did you know you can watch content offline using Stream's mobile apps? Using Stream for iOS and Android, you can continue to watch videos when network connectivity is limited, unavailable, or if you prefer to save cellular data. Whether you want to catch up on training videos on an upcoming flight or you'd like to watch recordings of a meeting that you could not make in-person on your evening commute – Stream offline videos are a great way to take your content with you. Once you've installed the mobile app from either the App Store or Google Play, sign into the app with your organization credentials. You may be prompted to complete multi-factor authentication steps during login if required by your IT department. After you sign in, pick a video to make available offline. You may either pick a video from your watchlist, discover content that's popular in your org, or search for a video using Stream's deep-search capabilities. Select the action sheet on the video and select "Make available offline." The video will begin to download to your device and show a progress indicator over the thumbnail. You can pause and resume the download, as needed. Videos downloading or downloaded to your device are listed under "Offline videos." Tap the video from anywhere in the app to watch offline.

Announcing the Public Folder Consistency Agent for Exchange Online

We are very glad to announce availability of the public folder consistency agent for public folders in Exchange Online. What is this, you ask? The agent currently works on two scenarios. The first scenario is stale permissions on public folders, such as when a user was given permissions on a public folder, but their mailbox was then removed. After the mailbox is gone, the previous permission entry from the public folder is not cleaned up and remains there as a stale entry. The second scenario is mail enabled public folder 'content mailbox' cleanup. Mail Enabled Public Folders (MEPF) have an important property related to 'content mailbox', which must be pointing to the correct public folder mailbox hosting the actual public folder content. The content mailbox property is crucial for delivering emails sent to the MEPF to a correct public folder. We have seen situations in which the content mailbox property on the MEPF do not point to the actual public folder mailbox hosting the public folder content. In such scenarios, email sent to MEPF's would just remain in queue and would not be delivered correctly. The consistency agent verifies content mailbox property on MEPF's and updates the value if it is not pointing to a correct mailbox.

Announcing new cloud-based technology to empower cyber defenders

Cybersecurity is about people. The frontline defenders who stand between the promise of digital transformation and the daily reality of cyber-attacks need our help. At Microsoft, we've made it our mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. Today that mission is focused on defenders. We are unveiling two new cloud-based technologies in Microsoft Azure Sentinel and Microsoft Threat Experts that empower security operations teams by reducing the noise, false alarms, time consuming tasks and complexity that are weighing them down. We are pleased to announce Microsoft Azure Sentinel, the first native SIEM within a major cloud platform. Azure Sentinel enables you to protect your entire organization by letting you see and stop threats before they cause harm. With AI on your side it helps reduce noise drastically—we have seen an overall reduction of up to 90 percent in alert fatigue with early adopters. Because it's built on Azure you can take advantage of nearly limitless cloud speed and scale and invest your time in security and not servers. In just a few clicks you can bring in your Microsoft Office 365 data for free and combine it with your other security data for analysis. | Related: Microsoft Mechanics: Introducing Microsoft Azure Sentinel
