BLOG ROUNDUP

Improve employee engagement in the modern workplace—The Employee Engagement Summit

Digital transformation is rapidly changing the way we communicate and work with each other. Company leaders recognize that to drive innovation and growth they must transform their workforce, foster open communications, and engage people, from the executive suite to Firstline Workers. Where employees are truly engaged, companies report improved employee retention, customer satisfaction, sales metrics, and overall profitability. Sadly, though, employee engagement is low and stagnant. Gallup also revealed that only a third of employees feel engaged in the United States, and only 15 percent worldwide. We recently hosted The Employee Engagement Summit, a free, one-hour, online event that brought together leaders from flagship companies to explore employee engagement and open communication in the modern workplace. In a lively series of discussions led by Anton Andrews, director of Office Envisioning at Microsoft, they shared stories, best practices, and lessons they've learned as they create a new culture of work. | View the recording of the Employee Engagement Summit and access event resources

Organize your intranet with SharePoint hub sites

As business goals and team structures evolve, so too must your sites and the content that lives within them. Ideas must flourish and grow, not become rigid or stale. SharePoint hub sites bring flexible, dynamic building blocks to your company intranet – connecting collaboration and communication. Associating sites together in a hub site enhances discovery and engagement with content, while creating a complete and consistent representation of your project, department or region. Microsoft first disclosed SharePoint hub sites during Ignite 2017. We are pleased to announce that they are now rolling out to Targeted Release customers in Office 365. We are encouraged by early adopter feedback and can't wait for every customer to use and adopt them. Hub sites support good governance, giving admins a growth framework to maintain relationships between sites over time. They are easy for admins to establish and bring efficiencies for people who work inside and across the sites on a day-to-day basis. And when managing change within the business, it is easy to move a site from one hub site to another.

Microsoft Flow, Microsoft's workflow and business process management platform, is core to the success of this mission. It's the connective glue that's used by users and app developers alike for digital transformation, no matter what application they're using. With the Spring 2018 update, Flow is taking another step forward in terms of business process capabilities and rich integration with existing business data and applications. The updates cover four areas: (1) Business process management, (2) Rich new capabilities for flow authors, (3) Integration with business applications, and (4) Enterprise grade platform. In addition, we are providing detailed Release Notes that provide a deep dive into many of the features that will be coming. All of these features and more, will be Generally Available this spring. PowerApps Studio for the Web is Generally Available for Production Use

We are pleased to announce that starting today PowerApps Studio for web is generally available for production use. The web studio is the premiere authoring experience for creating PowerApps and is the recommend way to build your apps. We have seen a rapid increase in adoption of the web studio experience since releasing it. The web studio is always updated with the latest builds and allows you to work in your browser whether you are at work or home on a Mac or PC. We have been working hard to ensure a consistent experience in the web studio – it has also surpassed the Windows desktop studio in both features and performance. Going forward, we'll be deprecating the authoring capabilities of the PowerApps for Windows. The PowerApps Studio for Windows will still be available to download from the Windows Store and can be used as a player app just like the iOS and Android players for Mobile devices. The current studio authoring experience in the desktop app will be deprecated June 1, 2018. | Related: PowerApps Spring Update
