Office 365 Weekly Digest | March 11 – 17, 2018

Welcome to the March 11 - 17, 2018 edition of the Office 365 Weekly Digest.

New features for the Outlook app across platforms account for seven of the thirteen updates that were added to the Office 365 Roadmap last week. Also, of note, the new Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business Admin Center has been added, along with a new Microsoft 365 Admin Center and a new Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance Center.

There are no new events for this week's post. The Azure Active Directory webinars for April should be announced soon. If you're interested in customer immersion online experience sessions, I'd suggest registering as soon as possible as they continue to reach capacity quickly.

Microsoft Teams is the focus of last week's blog roundup with lots of announcements and news that coincided with the Enterprise Connect 2018 conference. Additional posts include information on updates for Microsoft Flow and Power BI, as well as the announcement of general availability for Azure Active Directory expiration policy for Office 365 Groups.

Microsoft Teams also dominates last week's noteworthy items, including the latest Teams On Air episode recorded at the Enterprise Connect 2018 conference and two case studies from Microsoft IT Showcase. The Office 365 Update for March 2018 video and resources are also now available.

Microsoft Security Intelligence Report volume 23 is now available

The latest Microsoft Security Intelligence Report is now available for download. The report, which is based on Microsoft's analysis of on-premises systems and cloud services, focuses on threat trends since February 2017. Anonymous data sources for the report come from consumer and commercial on-premises systems and cloud services that Microsoft operates on a global scale, such as Windows, Bing, Office 365, and Azure. Across these services, each month we scan 400 billion email messages for phishing and malware, process 450 billion authentications, execute more than 18 billion web page scans, and scan more than 1.2 billion devices for threats. The three key themes from the report are: (1) Botnets continue to impact millions of computers globally, (2) Easy marks methods like phishing are commonly used by cybercriminals, and (3) Ransomware remains a force to be reckoned with.

Azure AD Expiration Policy for Office 365 Groups is Generally Available

Office 365 groups expiration policies allow administrators to set an expiration timeframe for any Office 365 group. Once that timeframe is set, owners of these groups get notification emails reminding them to renew these groups if they still need them. Groups not renewed will automatically be deleted. We're excited to announce that this feature is now Generally Available! We've listened to your feedback and made it even more intuitive for users to decide whether they want to renew their group. The newly redesigned notification emails now provide one-click access to the group content, and also allow the group to be deleted if it's no longer needed. Office 365 groups expiration can be configured from the Azure Active Directory portal, as well as programmatically via Azure Active Directory PowerShell.
