Yammer Primary Domain and Network Name Management in O365

Posted: November 7, 2016 | Urgency: Normal | Category: Plan for Change | Action: Awareness | Effective November 14, 2016, the Yammer primary domain and network name will be managed from Office 365. When this change takes place, the following actions will apply: 1) When the Organization name changes in Office 365, the corresponding Yammer network name will be updated. 2) When the default domain in Office 365 changes to a verified domain, the primary domain of the corresponding Yammer network will be updated. There is nothing needed for you to prepare for this change. For additional information, please visit Manage Yammer domains across their lifecycle in Office 365.

 

Updated Feature: Allow users to create sites with Office 365 Groups

Posted: November 8, 2016 | Urgency: Normal | Category: Plan for Change | Action: Awareness | This week we are updating the “Start a Site” settings in the SharePoint admin center. The new settings (renamed “Site Creation”) will let you decide if you want your users to get the new site creation experience we’re releasing in late November. The new site creation experience will let users create sites with Office 365 groups by clicking the “Create site” link on the SharePoint home page and following a new form flow. We’re releasing the settings before the new site creation experience to give you time to check and update your settings. If you’ve already set “Start a Site” settings for your users, we recommend that you check out the new settings and make sure you’ve selected the option you want. If you have not already set “Start a Site” settings for your users, then there is likely no action you need to take. Feature Update: Sharing mails sent in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business

Posted: November 9, 2016 | Urgency: Normal | Category: Plan for Change | Action: Awareness | We’re updating how sharing mails are sent in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. You’ll begin seeing this change starting November 15, 2016. Today, sharing mails (excluding external sharing invitations) are sent from the sharing user's Exchange Online mailbox (if available). Going forward, we will begin sending all sharing mails from no-reply@sharepointonline.com. This makes our sharing experience consistent across both internal and external sharing mails and ensures that all mails that are templated and authored by SharePoint Online and OneDrive are sent from the service itself. The sharer will continue to be CC'd on all sharing mails. If you have any business processes that rely upon the "from" address in sharing mails, you will need to update these processes accordingly. BLOG ROUNDUP Create connected SharePoint Online team sites in seconds

In August 2016, we announced that Office 365 Groups would get full-powered SharePoint team sites. Immersive Reader and Frame Guide come to Office Lens—offering built-in accessibility

We are pleased to announce two new features for Office Lens—the Immersive Reader and the Frame Guide for iOS. Combined, these new updates expand our toolbox, which we first brought to OneNote and are now bringing to OneNote Online, Word for the desktop and Word Online. Previously, you could capture an image using Office Lens and then insert the image into OneNote to take advantage of Immersive Reader. With today’s updates, the Immersive Reader is now built directly into Office Lens. Skype Academy: Cloud PBX now available with on-premises Exchange Server

When Microsoft introduced Cloud PBX about a year ago, customers got very excited about the new possibility of giving their users a dial-tone in Skype for Business leveraging Skype for Business Online. However, in order to provide users with Voice Mail, all users with Cloud PBX enabled were required to have their Exchange Mailbox in Office 365 as well. We are happy to announce that this limitation has been removed! Help us test Exchange public folder migrations to Office 365 Groups

If you are using Public Folders (legacy or Modern) and would like to migrate some of them to Office 365 Groups, we are working on a solution for that. We are starting with the migration of Calendar folders and will move on to other types as we complete work on calendars. We would like to have customers who would like to try this migration to provide feedback. Details are included in the blog post.
