Microsoft Opens New Office at Moffett Towers in Sunnyvale

Employees from across Microsoft’s campuses in the San Francisco Bay Area gathered in Sunnyvale today to celebrate the opening of the new office at the Moffett Towers.  The 237,121 square foot facility is a brightly colored office designed to foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and productivity.

The ceremony brought together leaders from across Microsoft’s business groups, including Qi Lu, president, Online Services Division, Microsoft; Lisa Brummel, chief people officer, Microsoft; and Jake Hoelter, product unit manager, Microsoft. The new office will host more than 550 employees, including members of the Online Services Division who are responsible for many of the innovations in Bing.

Tony Spitaleri, mayor, Sunnyvale, attended the grand opening and spoke about the importance of Microsoft to the community. He recognized the company for its great investments in the area, highlighting the employee giving campaign that provided $3.6 million to community organizations in Silicon Valley last year in addition to more than $17 million in cash and product donations in the area from the company. In addition, local representatives were on hand to get a sense for the spirit and enthusiasm of Microsoft employees.

The group toured the vibrant facility and admired the design, layout and artwork in the new office. One of the highlights is an original collage created out of the buttons on old keyboards, connecting technology with creativity.

Microsoft has had a presence in Silicon Valley since 1981 and currently has more than 2,500 employees in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Moffett Towers is the latest milestone in a storied legacy on the forefront of technology in the area.
