Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula Celebrates the Grand Opening of a New Club Tech Center with Help from Microsoft

Imagine a place that provides academic and social programs to successfully increase high school graduation rates in neighborhoods where less than half the youth graduate from high school. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) is a comprehensive youth development organization open to young people aged 6-18, located in seven of the most challenged areas in Menlo Park, East Palo Alto and Redwood City. All Boys & Girls Clubs have an initiative called Club Tech, which is a comprehensive array of programs designed to help Club professionals build members’ computer skills and integrate technology in all core program areas. Club Tech’s programs focus on academics, science and technology, social education and life skills, athletics, fitness and the arts; the broad range of programs is designed to guide and inspire youth to develop the attitudes and life skills they need to thrive.

Today, the BGCP celebrates the grand opening of a new Club Tech Center of Excellence in Menlo Park. The center will provide youth access to fully loaded computers with new software and cutting-edge hardware. Microsoft helped to launch the BCGA Club Tech program in 2000 by providing over $100 million in software, training and assistance for developing a digital literacy curriculum.
