SharePoint Remote Blob Storage and Metalogix StoragePoint

As Enterprises look to leverage SharePoint document management and collaborative functionality on a broad scale data storage and document lifecycle management issues come to the fore. Do you store large volumes of files within the SharePoint database system? How do you gracefully age compliancy documents and move them across increasingly cheaper storage mechanisms throughout their lifecycle?

SharePoint 2010 with the introduction of RBS (Remote Blob Storage) answers some of the questions around storage but not necessarily all of them. Thankfully, being (.. and say this 5 times fast!  ;-)  the most prolific portal product on the planet today, SharePoint has a tremendous partner ecosystem that addresses many of the areas that might not be out of the box. In this instance full document lifecycle management as well as granular RBS capability can be found in the newly released Metalogix StoragePoint 3.0 solution.

In today's Productivity Adventure I discuss how use of SharePoint 2010 Remote Blob Storage as well as Metalogix StoragePoint 3.0 solution can help enable large scale file collaboration and records management while eliminating concern around database storage and full document lifecycle management.
