We’ve run into a couple folks who are having trouble finding KB961983 – Description of the hotfix rollup package for System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008: April 14th, 2009 so if this applies to you then here’s a tip on how to find it. What you need to do is run Windows Update, click on “Check online for updates from Microsoft Update” and you should see it:
Before you do this though, you might want to check your Windows Update settings by going to Control Panel -> Windows Update -> Change Settings and change it from “Install Updates automatically (recommended)” to “Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them”. This way you will not inadvertently install some updates you do not want or have not tested.
Alternatively, you can download it directly using the link below, although there is a caveat here in that you will need to click on “Add” and then “View Basket” to get the Download button to show up to allow you to download it:
To apply the patch manually, run the following command line:
“msiexec /p vmmServer64update.msp BOOTSTRAPPED=1”
