SBS 2008 Open licensing - issues & updates

With the release of SBS 2008 onto the distribution pricelists on October 1st, there have been some issues around:

  • SBS 2008 CAL downgrades to previous version (how to get the license keys)
  • Adding SA to SBS 2003 R2 OEM & FPP product

I'm waiting on an update from Corp on what we're going to do on the CAL issue (expected any day) & on the adding SA issue, we've developed a local workaround.

Basically, we've put in place an exception that allows SA to be attached to the SBS 2003 R2 OEM & FPP (it can normally only be attached to the current version). This is because SBS 2008 OEM & FPP is not yet available in the channel & so we want to ensure that customers & partners are not disadvantaged.

This exception will be in place until the ready availability of SBS 2008 via OEM & FPP. After this time, SA will only be able to be attached to the current version.
